The rest of the day is open for your own activities. We suggest a walk in the Old Town area with galleries, museums, restaurants and pubs. A visit to one of the city´s geothermal swimming pools is a great way to shake off jetlag and a very Icelandic activity. Most pools open around 06:00- ideal places to visit for early morning arrivals in Iceland.
Day 3: South Shore Adventure
Breakfast at your hotel.Cross the fertile farmlands in the south of Iceland with stops at majestic waterfalls, a black sandy beach, the surreal Reynisdrangar rock formations and a folk museum.
Drive along the south coast of Iceland, one of the country's most scenic regions, as far as Vík, a charming village surrounded by beautiful high bird cliffs. Along the way, stop at the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which you can walk behind (weather and path conditions permitting). You will also stop at the majestic and much-photographed Skógafoss waterfall and visit the Skógar folk museum, to get a taste of how Icelanders lived in centuries past. Other highlights include views of the stunning Mýrdalsjökull glacier, the black sand coastline and the impressive Reynisdrangar rock formations. Return to Reykjavik.
Day 4: At leisure - Northern Lights Hunt
Breakfast at your hotel. Today is open for you to enjoy visiting Iceland your way. Optional tours ($) are available ranging from traditional sightseeing to soft adventure activities. At night enjoy an incredible Northern Lights Hunt.
Northern Lights hunt (included):
Tonight take part in a guided northern lights hunt tour. On a dark winter night in Iceland, join a mysterious tour looking for the Aurora Borealis. Far from the glow of Reykjavik city, we hunt for the elusive Northern Lights. From autumn until spring, during clear and cold dark nights it's possible to witness one of nature's most incredible displays: the northern lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. On this evening tour you may be lucky enough to see them swirling and dancing across the sky changing endlessly their colour, shape and size.
*Please note that the northern lights hunt is only available between October and April inclusively. In the event that the Northern Lights
have not been observed, a second evening will be offered the next day with no additional cost.
Day 5: The Golden Circle
Breakfast at your hotel. Enjoy an introduction to the best-loved natural wonders of Iceland. First, visit Thingvellir National Park, a remarkable historical and geological site which is located by Lake Thingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth's tectonic plates. In this very area, the Vikings formed in 930AD what would become the world’s oldest and longest running Parliamentary government.
Next, visit Gullfoss waterfall, where you will see thousands of tons of icy water thundering majestically down double ledges into a deep canyon. Nearby is Geysir geothermal area, where bubbling hot springs and geysers bubble away. Discover Strokkur, the most active geyser in the area. Part of your day will also include an interesting visit to a family farm where organic tomatoes are grown in unique geothermal greenhouses.
Day 6: Blue Lagoon
Following breakfast at your hotel, depart for the infamous Blue Lagoon, a spectacular geothermal spa where lava and thermal water meet and complement one another. The Blue Lagoon’s warms and natural active ingredients; mineral salts, silica and blue green algae help you relax and unwind while the Blue Lagoon white silica mud gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin. The minerals salts balance and relax body and soul.
After having enjoyed all the amenities of the Blue Lagoon, a Flybus will pick you up, ultimately stopping at the central bus terminal, where you will then be redirected to smaller shuttles that will take you to your hotel.
